Description
Truro is Cornwall’s only city, having become the seat of the Anglican diocese of Truro in 1877. Truro is a lively city with much character and appeal, best known for its cathedral (completed in 1910), cobbled streets, open spaces and Georgian architecture. Two important regional cultural facilities, the Hall for Cornwall and Royal Cornwall Museum, are also situated in the city.
The Army Reserve Centre has the classic appearance of an art-deco cinema of the 1930’s, with a great deal of charm and grace which is matched by the staff within. It is currently home to D Company, 6th Battalion, The Rifles, C Squadron Detachment, 243 Field Hospital RAMC as well as the Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps. It is a two minute walk to the heart of Truro, with easy access to local amenities, restaurants and boutique shops. This is an ideal location to host conferences, exhibitions, meetings, lectures and tutorials. It can cater for functions both large and small, and a variety of formal and informal events. This venue benefits from on-site, secure parking for up to 30 cars. Truro railway station is a short walk from the city centre and is part of the Cornish Main Line, giving the city a direct connection to London Paddington. Newquay Airport is Cornwall’s main airport and is located 12 miles (19 km) north of Truro. One of the fastest-growing regional airports in the UK, the services and destinations are constantly expanding. The airport offers regular flights to and from London Gatwick, London Stansted and other cities around the country. |
