Classroom 1 (6m x 6m) desks and seating for 18 students with desks. Whiteboard and lectern. Classroom 2 (6m x 6m) desks and seating for 18 students with desks. Whiteboard and lectern. These two rooms are linked by a removable divider, and can be opened out to provide one large classroom (12m x 6m) Lecture Room (9.6m x 6.1m) This versatile room can seat 50 for lectures and briefings, or accommodate 75 standing.

A servery from the kitchen opens onto a large functional dining room (15.8m x 5.8m) which can seat up to 110 adults and cadets at one sitting. The room can be sub-divided to allow an adult dining area.

A fully fitted kitchen (9.6m x 5.8m) with 12 ring burner, deep fat fryer, grill and ovens, hotplate, 2 fridges, 2 freezers and a microwave.

A large grass area (100m x 30m) and parade ground (30m x 30m) available for a variety of outdoor leisure/ activities. Can accept bookings from all military helicopters with a limited downwash. Night time use is limited to NVD fitted aircraft.

Four separate Ablution areas plus a drying room.

Description

Nestling in the shadow of Westdown Camp, and half a mile south of the village of Tilshead, the Cadet Camp is geographically central to Salisbury Plain. The Plain is rich in archaeology, with one of UK’s best loved landmarks, Stonehenge, just a short drive away. Opened in May 1996 by Field Marshal Sir Roland Gibbs this military estate was built on the original camp dating from 1937. Easily accessible off the A360, this utilitarian group of huts comprises of three accommodation blocks (one of which incorporates a small social area), kitchen and dining block, two lecture rooms and one ablutions block. All buildings are of steel framed, steel clad construction. The basic accommodation buildings provide separate sleeping dormitories for male/female instructors and male/female cadets (150 bed spaces). These is parking for 50 vehicles or a squadron of tanks. The adjacent 300 sq mile training area is available for booking separately.
